“A moving story of one man’s drunken struggle to keep control of his bodily functions. Liquored up and ready for action, this poor soul is about to discover that trying to do those normal everyday kind of things are not quite that simple when you are so severely under the influence. But he’s not the quitting type. Armed with takeaway food, cans of lager and an apartment full of potentially dangerous implements, sit back and watch the embarrassing and painful chain of events unfold.”
Sounds interesting? Well that was the writeup for a short movie called “What The…?” that I released 5 years ago to the day with my good friend James Welbourne. It was more of an experiment to see what we could do with zero budget & a crew of just two people, & we were pleased with the finished product to say the least. It was exactly as we’d hoped it would turn out to be: funny, entertaining & gross!!
We imagined it would be the start of many movies we’d make together but film composing took over my life & James moved out to Qatar to work. That’s not to say we won’t do anything together in the future; we’re still in touch & we’re still big movie geeks so I’m guessing it’s only a matter of time.
So as a way of celebrating the 5 year anniversary, click the following link to watch the 15 minute short itself…
If you enjoy it then please check out the DVD which contains over 100 minutes of extras that include;
- Writing & Rehearsing
- Outtakes & Bloopers
- Behind the scenes & Additional footage
- The Many Faces of Tony
- The Script
- The Music
- Photo Gallery
- The Bloody End
The extras really do give a sense of what it was like to write, rehearse & film the short, complete with bad language, bloopers & stupid mistakes – it’s a rather scary insight into our twisted minds.
