My latest movie soundtrack, Inhumanity, has just been released to coincide with the release of the movie. I am so proud of this project, and I want to tell you a little more about how I created the soundtrack for this movie.
When Inhumanity writer / director Joe McReynolds approached me to score the movie, I was dabbling with the amazing iPad music app KORG Gadget. Joe wanted a gritty synth soundtrack and what I was hearing on KORG Gadget was exactly that, but there were a couple of questions…
- Could I create an entire movie soundtrack using just the KORG Gadget app?
- Is it actually possible to write a complete movie soundtrack on an iPad?
I threw caution to the wind and thankfully the answer to both those questions was a resounding YES. Not only was KORG Gadget more than up for the task, but scoring it on an iPad meant I had maximum mobility, no longer shackled to a single location.
What you hear on the Inhumanity soundtrack is my hard work in the studio, in the garden, on trains, in cars, in coffee shops, in hotel rooms and even in bed. I always had my iPad to hand and when inspiration struck, I would compose. I found this freedom truly exhilarating and I think that really does come across in the finished product.
So go take a listen to the Inhumanity soundtrack right here, totally and entirely created using the amazing and versatile KORG Gadget on an iPad.
